Today we're celebrating one of our favorite milestones at CrossFit Coordinate — Cary's family-friendly CrossFit gym: Camila just hit her 50th class. If you've trained with her, you already know — she shows up, she works hard, and she has one of the best smiles in the gym. What you might not know is the story behind those 50 classes — a postpartum CrossFit comeback that says everything we hope this place stands for.
Fifty classes in — Camila's postpartum CrossFit comeback.
Why She Walked Through the Door
Camila wasn't new to CrossFit. She loved it. Then her daughter, Summer, arrived — and like every first-time mom knows, life rearranged itself overnight. The training routine paused. The identity shifted. The schedule belonged to a tiny new person.
When she was ready to come back, she wasn't just looking for a gym. In her own words:
That's a sentence we hear a lot from new parents in Cary, Apex, and Holly Springs — people who used to train, used to feel strong, and want to find their way back without leaving their family at the door. It's exactly why we built our intro process the way we did: a low-pressure conversation, a workout that meets you where you are, and a 28-day free trial so you can feel the difference before you commit.
What She Found Once She Got Here
Here's what Camila said when we asked how CrossFit Coordinate has impacted her life. We'll just let her words do the work:
That last line is the whole thing, isn't it? "Reminded me of who I am."
This is what we mean when we talk about community. It isn't a buzzword on a website. It's members holding Summer so Camila can hit a heavy clean. It's the high-fives after a brutal interval. It's the quiet kindness that makes hard work possible — because hard work is hard enough without doing it alone.
We asked Camila to say more about that community. What she sent back stopped us in our tracks:
I cannot adequately express how much the coaches and class members have made our gym experience so impactful. These people quickly turned into friends! I was so shocked at how quickly everyone jumped in to help me with Summer so I could workout — from holding and playing with her during sets, to helping me load my car, to cheering for me when I progress a skill.
— Camila
I didn't expect to find so much support and kindness here, but I did — and it's shaped my postpartum fitness journey. Without everyone's help I wouldn't be nearly as strong or consistent as I am today. 💪
— Camila
Back to the barbell — and back to herself.
Community is what makes the hard work possible.
This Is What Family-Friendly Actually Looks Like
Bring the kids. Bring the questions. Bring whatever season of life you're in. Our coaches build the workout for you, and our community shows up for the rest.
50 Classes, In Her Own Words
We asked Camila what she'd tell someone thinking about joining. Her answer was vintage Camila — direct, warm, and a little contagious:
If you've never been to one of our Saturday partner workouts, consider this your invitation. They're loud, sweaty, full of laughter, and exactly the kind of thing that makes 50 classes feel like 50 reasons to come back.
Showing up — one rep, one class at a time.
Fifty classes of small, steady wins.
Fifty classes in. The smile says it all.
If Her Story Sounds Like Yours…
Maybe you're a new parent in the Triangle who used to train and is ready to feel strong again. Maybe you're searching for a family-friendly gym in Cary where your kids are welcome and your workout is taken seriously. Maybe you just need a community that will help carry the load — sometimes literally — so you can do the hard, beautiful work of becoming yourself again.
You don't need to be in shape to start. You don't need a plan. Our coaches handle the programming, the scaling, and the modifications. You bring the willingness to show up. We'll build the rest together — and yes, you can absolutely bring the kids.
Camila — congratulations on 50. Thank you for letting us be part of your story. From all of us (and Summer's whole gym family), we can't wait to celebrate the next 50 with you.
